Title IX Coordinator Training

Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Investigators, Student Conduct Personnel, Student Affairs Administrators, Training and Prevention Personnel

Title IX training is required under the new Title IX regulations for Title IX Coordinators, Investigators, Decision Makers, and Informal Resolution Facilitators. Understand the legal foundations and your schools obligations under Title IX and gain the practical skills on how best to manage compliance, policies, procedures, investigations, and special topics. This training will provide an overview of Title IX Requirements and Responses, Roles and Responsibilities of the Title IX Coordinator, and Polices and Procedures.

JLaw Consulting hosts Certified Face-to-Face and Virtual Trainings as well as courses in our Title IX Academy  to assist in meeting these requirements.  We also work with school districts to design tailored training for Title IX teams to ensure the full breadth of the Title IX regulations are met and those team members understand the role of Title IX Coordinators, as well as an understanding of foundational law, case law, regulations, and regulatory guidance.

Title IX Investigator Training

Learn to build and implement an effective investigation strategy, document civil rights violations, determine remedies and sanctions, safety planning, and management of the stakeholders in investigative process including, parents, staff, school resource officers, and law enforcement.  This training will take you from theory to practice with compelling case studies and relevant activities that take the content off the page and onto the campus.

Athletic Title IX Compliance and Training

Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Student Affairs Administrators/ Athletics Liaisons, Equity & Compliance Directors

This training takes a comprehensive look at athletics programs and program equity, sexual misconduct in athletic, other compliance aspects, safeguards responsibilities and reporting requirements for coaches, trainers, and staff.  Examine how to comply with the compliance aspects of funding, travel, per diems, training table, access, marketing, and how to count your opportunities.  This training will allow participants to understand why issues in the athletic department exist, learn from mistakes of athletic departments, and how to spot red flags and correct them.

Hearing Officer/Decision Maker Training

Hearing Officers, Decision Makers, Hearing Panelists, Appeals Officers, Student Conduct Administrators, Investigators. and Campus Law Enforcement

The new Title IX regulations require separate individuals designated as the investigator and decision maker in a Title IX matter. Learn to recognize and overcome bias, to understand their role, apply college or university policy, and make a finding with analytical precision.  This training will review the structural aspects of the hearing, questioning and cross examination, procedural and substantive due process, neutrality and objectivity, models of proof, and factual and credibility analysis and decion-making.

All over the country, lawsuits are attacked the decisions of college panels in sexual misconduct allegations, and many of those decisions are weak and susceptible to challenge in the courts. This training is designed to shore up that weakness so that your decisions are sound, supportable, and much harder to challenge in court.

Title IX Campus Survivor/Advocate Training

Campus Advocates, Investigators, Community-Based Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocates, Student Affairs Administrators Overseeing Campus Advocacy, Athletics Administrators

Understand the unique role of campus based advocates working with survivors of dating/domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault, and improve survivor’s experience when accessing support or seeking resolution. VAWA regulations now require that student complainants and respondents have access to an advisor of their choice throughout the campus reporting process. While every college and university in the country is required by the Department of Education to have a campus Title IX Coordinator, each institution may soon be required to provide a confidential advisor for student survivors as well, either a designated university employee or a contracted local community service provider.

504/ADA and Title IX Intersectionality Training

504 Coordinator, Disability Service Coordinator, EEO Directors, Title IX Coordinator, Student Conduct Personnel, Equity and Compliance Directors

A comprehensive overview of disability-based laws including ADA, Title II, Title III, 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, The Fair Housing Act and Title IX and guidelines regarding accommodation, exploration of elements required for a well-developed grievance process, and best practices in organizational structure. These grievance processes are designed to address circumstances of challenge by student, or parent dissatisfied with your districts disability-based process or response. 504 Coordinators are required to provide documentation of training related to Section 504 and ADA, as well as to provide a developed policy and grievance process to respond to internal complaints or challenges.

As a sitting Title IX Administrator, Dr. Lawrence is intimately familiar with both the law and best practices surrounding Title IX. Title IX is a specialized area that requires nuanced knowledge of higher education and school districts as well as a solid foundation of the legal framework.

Cases alleging a violation of Title IX carry unique complexities that are not found in any other types of cases. An expert witness in these cases can be pivotal. These cases involve sexual misconduct under Title IX, negligence, investigative standards, appropriate institutional response, hazing, bullying and other related legal issues at colleges, universities, private high schools, charter schools, K-12, Greek organizations, and other areas where sexual misconduct can occur.
